Unlike many online private schools, most classes are taught live and in real time by passionate educators, not pre-recorded or self-guided. Scholars Academy serves bright, gifted students from kindergarten through grade 12, including twice-exceptional learners who are both gifted and have a learning difference. Twice-exceptional (2e) students are both gifted and learn with one or more exceptionalities. Scholars Academy teachers are experienced in supporting learners with dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, ADHD, and autism spectrum profiles. Through small-group instruction and individualized attention, each student receives both the challenge their gifted mind needs and the support their learning difference requires.
Most classes at Scholars Academy are taught live and in real time, not self-guided or asynchronous. Your child learns directly from engaging, passionate educators in a small-group setting. At the same time, students are freed from rigid age-based lesson plans, so they can accelerate and advance at a pace that matches their abilities.

Scholars Academy offers three distinct programs. The K-12 Scholars Virtual Academy delivers live, online instruction to gifted and twice-exceptional students nationwide. An in-person academy in Albemarle, North Carolina, serves younger students who benefit from specialized, on-site support. The Scholars Academy for Pre-Professional Dancers supports youth pursuing serious ballet study alongside their academics.

While the in-person programs serve families in the Albemarle area, the K-12 Scholars Virtual Academy teaches students throughout North Carolina, across the United States, and around the world.
